मैं उदास हूँ!

कैसे कहूँ कि क्यों उदास हूँ…………

मुंदी नहीं आँखें मेरी हैं, प्रकृति विहान हास नवकिरण

देख रहा हूँ, प्राची दिशा में, इसका ग्रह परिवर्तन

तम का धूपर उठा लाल की लाली मुँह पर छाई

जाग कितने देख कर, जन पुञ्ज सघुर मुस्काई

योवन की मधुरिमा, भूमि के कण कण में छाई

मैं कुसुम कली कोमल का हास, धूपर खोल न पाई

मुझे देखकर लजाती, बस यही सोच कर मैं हताश हूँ

अलि की वाणी मधुर सुञ्जाल, नैन कुमल न खोले

बसा दिया आँखों में जीवन को, मेरा भी मन बोले

क्या मिलन प्रिय के लोभन में, तेरा भी सही होगा?

पर चिंतन स्वर हर गया ध्यान सोचा क्या संभव होगा?

रख लेगा तू बन्द द्वार मेरे स्वर क्या सुन लेगा

बन्द हो गये द्वार बस यही सोच कर मैं उदास हूँ

मृदु मलयज आया समीप मधु भरे हुए मतवाला

कलीवती लख खिल गई सुरभि वन पहाड़ों से माला,

झूल रही हैं वे उमंग में मेरी भी मति डोली

मैं भी पिय मिल किंतु क्यों सुरसर से खाली बोली

क्या तू मुझे नियंत्रण देंगे, आने का तो आगम ही,

किंतु डर रही हूँ आकर तू मुझे नहीं पावेगा,

कैसे मैं फिर तुम्हें बुलाऊँ यही सोच कर मैं हताश हूँ।

रात हुई चाँदनी और तारों का मण्डल मेला,

लुका छिपी होती हृदय पर सुम मैं हूँ दुख अकेला,

चाह ढल रही पिस सुम आँख में बूँद बूँद तेरी,

किंतु पास मेरा कटोरे दुख शरण न आँखे तेरी।

तू तो है समीपतम मेरे, किंतु नहीं में, तेरे पास हूँ।
